If you’ve already browsed our blog, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve published several scholarships for women. In this post, we’ve gathered all these opportunities and talked a little about each one. We can already tell you that there are benefits and awards of different types, levels, and target audiences.
These initiatives are very important because, even with all the changes that have been happening lately, many fields of study and the job market are still dominated by men. Furthermore, there are still far fewer women than men in leadership positions.
Scholarships for women are part of the effort to change this scenario. These programs usually aim to open more and more doors for them through opportunities for empowerment and encouragement for study and/or professional training.
Scholarships for women: undergraduate and exchange programs
TechGirls
A really cool program for girls interested in math, science, and technology is TechGirls. This free exchange program, offered by the U.S. Department of State in partnership with Virginia Tech University, is aimed at empowering girls from all over the world who want to pursue careers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
The program selects girls for a completely free exchange program in the U.S. You can find more information below.
Girls 20
There are also scholarships for events aimed at empowering women. A great example is the G(irls)20 Summit, which selects young women between 18 and 23 years old for an annual global leadership event. Those selected have all costs covered and receive a week of training in leadership, social entrepreneurship, and mentoring from other leaders in the public and business sectors.
Just like at the G20 meeting, the scholarship recipients participate as delegates and contribute by debating the challenges they face in their countries.
To apply, in addition to the age requirement, you must speak English and be a citizen of one of the G20 member countries.
